A disorder characterised by excessive thirst and urination while the body wastes that often overlaps with diabetes mellitus and pre-diabetic states in modern medicine. It can be divided into three types based on which Jiao is most affected:

• Upper Jiao Xiao Ke: Excessive thirst from Lung Heat drying up body fluids
• Middle Jiao Xiao Ke: Excessive hunger and constipation created by Stomach Fire
• Lower Jiao Xiao Ke: Excessive urination with dry mouth and sore back from Kidney Yin deficiency
