Learning & Information Tools

In the professional and learning area I have included some tools to help Chinese medicine practitioners and academics. These are essentially my own notebooks and reference journals which I have decided to make public in the hope that the reading I do and the ideas I have can help others develop their own practice. This includes:

  • News: A list of news stories that catch my attention related to Chinese and traditional medicines.
  • Articles: Major articles in journals and academic writing that are worth keeping to hand referring to.
  • Blog Posts: A series of mini-essays that I have written, usually on traditional medicine or philosophy.
  • Point Notes: A searchable database of points with my own notes added as I learn, including some of my own interpretations of classical texts, both medical and philosophical. Also included is a revision test tool I designed to help keep knowledge of points fresh.
  • Herb Notes: Another database of medicinal substances, mostly Chinese and using Chinese terminology but also includes many of the common herbs used in western herbalism and anything else that catches my interest. Many have additional notes on contemporary biochemistry and links to pages where further information can be found.
  • Formula Notes: A third database of formulas, again mostly Chinese and using Chinese terminology but some Ayurvedic and even a few from ancient western sources are included.
  • Oil Notes: A list of essential oils and their Chinese properties to assist in composing blends for point stimulation or aromatherapy.
  • Dietary Guides: Some notes on classical dietary suggestions and sine diet sheets to supply to patients for various common patterns.
  • Glossary: A glossary of terms used in Chinese medicine and a short explanation, especially some of the more unusual historical terms, concepts and syndromes.
