Mitochondrial Resilience Programme

The Science of Energy. The Art of Healing.

Why Mitochondria Matter

Mitochondria are the tiny power plants inside every cell, fuelling everything we do — from moving and thinking to healing and ageing. When they function well, we feel energised, resilient, and clear-headed. When they falter, energy drops, inflammation rises, and the risk of chronic disease increases.

Yet these same mitochondria also possess remarkable intelligence. They learn from the stresses we experience, adapting to make us stronger — a principle understood intuitively in traditional medicine long before it was mapped by modern science.

For thousands of years, Chinese medicine has used controlled challenges — movement, fasting, herbs, manual therapies and meditation — to strengthen the body’s natural capacity for balance and repair. Today, mitochondrial science is revealing just how right they were.

My Approach

Drawing on decades of study in traditional medicine and a PhD exploring how these practices influence mitochondrial biology, I offer a specialised programme designed to help you understand and support your own energy system.

This isn’t a quick fix or a “biohack.” It’s a process of education and gradual transformation — learning how your mitochondria respond to different stimuli, and how, over time, you can guide them toward better performance and resilience.

You’ll learn how to cultivate:

Yin and Yang: Two Pathways to Energy

In traditional philosophy, Yang represents active transformation — building strength, resilience, and momentum. Yin represents nourishment and restoration — calming inflammation, improving sleep, and rebuilding from within.

Both are essential, but the right starting point depends on where you are now.

The Yin Path – Restoring Balance

For those with fatigue, chronic illness or metabolic dysfunction, a gentler foundation is needed first.
Yin approaches emphasise nourishment, repair and stability:

As your energy improves, Yin naturally transforms into Yang — you’ll be ready to embrace more active, resilience-building methods.

The Yang Path – Building Power

For those already in good health, or having completed the Yin path to restore balance, the focus is on activation and performance.
Yang approaches use controlled stressors to strengthen mitochondria:

These methods stimulate adaptation and build vitality — like training the body’s energy systems to become more efficient and powerful.

The Programme

The programme is designed in stages, allowing treatment to evolve as your health improves. Rather than following a fixed protocol, each phase builds on the progress made in the previous one, with the pace depending on your individual needs and response.

Phase 1: Foundation Phase

The first stage focuses on laying the foundations for lasting change. Together we identify the factors most affecting your health and gradually introduce personalised strategies to improve sleep, movement, nutrition, light exposure, stress resilience and other aspects of daily life. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, manual therapies and laboratory testing may be incorporated where appropriate.

The aim of this phase is not simply to relieve symptoms, but to establish sustainable habits and improve your body's capacity to adapt.

The Foundation Phase is typically completed through a three-month Transformation Programme. Depending on your progress and goals, some people move on to a Maintenance Programme, while others benefit from a further period of more intensive support before doing so.

Phase 2: Maintenance Phase

Once these foundations have been established, many people benefit from a period of ongoing support while the new habits become embedded. Maintenance appointments are usually less frequent and focus on reviewing progress, refining your programme and responding to new challenges as they arise.

For most people, particularly those recovering from long-standing health problems or working towards ambitious performance goals, a series of Maintenance Programmes provides continued support while healthy habits become firmly established. Others may be ready to move more quickly to occasional review appointments. The pace is guided by your progress, confidence and long-term goals rather than a fixed timetable.
