Category: Formulas that Tonify Blood

Pattern: Qi and Blood deficiency

Key Symptoms: Constant ache in the lower abdomen that occurs during or just after menstruation and responds favourably to pressure with scanty, pale flow.
Secondary Symptoms: Pale complexion, lethargic and withdrawn, sores that bleed profusely and cause irritability and insomnia.

Tongue: Pale with thin coating
Pulse: Thin and frail


Ingredients

Sheng Di Huang 9g
Shu Di Huang 9g
Chuan Xiong 9g
Ren Shen 9g
Dang Gui 1.5g
Huang Qi 1.5g

Subsitutions:
The last two ingredients are usually increased 8-10 fold.


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Augments the Qi, tonifies the Blood, preserves the Blood
