Important Formula for Painful Diarrhoea

Pattern: Deficient Spleen with overcontrolling Liver

Key Symptoms: Recurrent problems of borborygmus, abdominal pain, diarrhoea with pain accompanying each urge to have a bowel movement that is relieved upon completion

Tongue: Thin, white coat
Pulse: Wiry, thin


Ingredients

Bai Zhu 9-12g (dry fried)
Bai Shao 6-24g (dry fried)
Chen Pi 4.5-9g (dry fried)
Fang Feng 3-6g


Preparation: Decoction.


Actions: Tonifies the Spleen, softens the Liver, expels Dampness, stops Diarrhoea

Contraindications: Diarrhoea due to food stagnation
