Meeting of Kidney with Chong Mai

On the upper abdomen, 2 cun above the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to the midline (Xiawan Ren-10). Note: The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion locates this 1 cun from the midline.

Perpendicular insertion 1 - 1.5 cun

Deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.

TCM Actions:
Dispels accumulation and alleviates pain

TCM Indications:
  • Abdominal (ji ju) masses with periodic cutting pain, intestinal pain with lack of appetite, redness and pain of the eye originating at the inner canthus.
  • Vomiting diarrhoea, constipation.

    Superficial Innervation: Anterior cutaneous thoracic nerve from T9
    Dermatome Segment: T9
