Pattern: Long term deficiency of the Middle Jiao that results in obstruction or disturbance of vision and hearing

Key Symptoms: Pterygium or other obstructive visual disorders, chronic visual disturbances, tinnitus or hearing loss

Huang Qi 15g
Ren Shen 15g
Gan Cao 15g
Sheng Ma 9g
Ge Gen 9g
Man Jing Zi 4.5g
Shan Yao 3g
Huang Bai 3g (wine fried)

Huang Bai should not be wine fried in patients with severe Spleen and Stomach deficiency. Its dosage should also be increased in cases with more severe Heat signs or during the summer months.

Preparation: Ground into powder and taken in 9g doses as a draft at bedtime and daybreak.

Actions: Strengthens and raises the Middle Jiao Qi, improves visual and aural acuity
