Pattern: Failure of the Lungs to disseminate Qi with accumulation of Lung Heat

Key Symptoms: Nasal obstruction, sticky yellow discharge, headache
Secondary Symptoms: Thirst, sore throat, polyps

Tongue: Red, dry body with yellow coat
Pulse: Rapid

Xin Yi Hua 2.5g
Huang Qin 3g
Zhi Zi 3g
Mai Men Dong 3g
Bai He 3g
Shi Gao 3g
Gan Cao 1.5g
Pi Pa Ye 3g (remove hairs)
Zhi Mu 3g
Sheng Ma 1g

Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Disseminates Lung Qi, clears Heat, unblocks the nose

Contraindications: Lung Heat due to Wind-Cold obstructing the Exterior or Yin deficiency

Originally used for nasal polyps but today more commonly used for disorders such as atrophic rhinitis, allergic rhinitis or sinusitis.
