Pattern: Cold contracted through the back

Key Symptoms: Wheezing, shortness of breath and coughing with stubborn phlegm, focal distention, fullness of the chest and diaphragm and inability to breathe when lying down

Ma Huang 30g
Zhi Chuan Wu 30g
Xi Xin 30g
Hua Jiao 30g
Bai Fan 30g
Zhu Ya Zao 30g
Ban Xia 30g
Tian Nan Xing 30g
Xing Ren 30g
Gan Cao 30g
Zi Wan 60g
Kuan Dong Hua 60g

In the UK many of the ingredients need to be substituted. Some suggestions include:
Ma Huang is limited to 0.6g per dose, up to 1.8g per day. Zi Su Ye + Jing Jie can be used to supplement this amount.
Chuan Wu == Gan Jiang + Gui Zhi
Xi Xin == Zi Su Ye + Bai Qian
Bai Fan == She Gan
Kuan Dong Hua == Zhi Ke + Jie Geng

Preparation: Decoction.

Actions: Disperses Cold and flushes out Phlegm

Contraindications: Should not be used with deficient patients due to being very warming and drying
