Dan Huang Si Ni San

Pattern: Modern formula for early stage appendicitis with Liver Qi and Blood stagnation with Heat

Key Symptoms: Right lower quadrant pain along the Liver channel, fever, cold hands and feet
Secondary Symptoms: Anxiety and irritability, fullness in the chest and epigastrium, palpitations, insomnia, fatigue, frequent sighing or taking deep breaths, depressive moods, cough, alternating constipation and diarrhoea, nausea, urinary difficulty


Ingredients

Chai Hu 12g
Bai Shao 30-75g
Zhi Shi 12g
Mu Dan Pi 12g
Huang Bai 12g
Gan Cao 12g


Preparation: No instructions are given but may presumably be ground into powder and taken in 6-9g doses like its principal related formula (Si Ni San) or prepared as a decoction.


Actions: Clears Heat, spreads Liver Qi, invigorates the Blood, relieves spasmodic pain
